While living in Delhi, initially, I used to take gifts of Darjeeling Tea for my friends and colleagues. As time went by, my friends and colleagues started asking me for tea for their relatives, friends and colleagues as well. It was obviously impossible for me to carry such volumes of tea. So, in 2016, after much research and deliberation, Chiya was born with the support of a few, well recommended tea experts. These tea garden workers have been facing oppressive employers and deplorable living and working conditions since time immemorial. Their wages are so low that it is difficult to make ends meet. Needless to say, the situation in closed tea gardens is unimaginable.

Chiya has decided to make a humble contribution to alleviate the tea workers' hardships by sponsoring a child’s education or helping a deserving child in their extra curricular activities like sports, music, etc or even by providing some medical help.
